History of The Church of Pentecost, Norcross Central Assembly

In the quest to fulfill the "Great Commission" as stated in Matthew 28:19, the then District Pastor of Atlanta, Pastor Stephen Omane-Yeboah (now the Regional Head of Atlanta, Evangelist Stephen Omane-Yeboah) decided to open Norcross Assembly. Prior to that, there was only Atlanta Central Assembly located in Mableton. With commitment, prayers and dedication, the Norcross Assembly of the Church of Pentecost was opened in April 2000 at Atrium Mall (now Global Mall) on Jimmy Carter Blvd in Norcross. The church began with twenty-one (21) members who regularly worshipped at the Central assembly. The core leadership of the assembly were:

1. Eld. Kojo Darko        - Presiding Elder
2. Dcn. K. Owusu Banahene - Secretary
3. Eld. Edward Cudjoe - Financial Secretary

After two (2) years in Atrium Mall, the church moved to Atlantic Blvd in Norcross. At that worship center, the Children’s Movement, Women’s Movement, Men's Movement and Witness Movement (now known as Children’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Men's Ministry and Evangelism Ministry respectively) were formed to operate independently of the Central assembly in Mableton.

Pastor Omane-Yeboah was transferred and the then Overseer Augustus Martey (now Apostle Augustus Martey) replaced him.

After five (5) years, the local leadership was changed. Elder Dr. Edward Cudjoe became the Presiding Elder, Dcn. Samuel Akurang was elected as Secretary and Dcn. Kwabena Owusu Banahene became the Financial Secretary. The church experienced increase in growth by the grace of God with members spreading across the vicinity of Lawrenceville, Stone Mountain, and Lithonia. Pastor Augustus Martey envisioned the need to open another assembly in Stone Mountain. It is worth noting that, the church was blessed with many Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses and members who relocated to Norcross from other states or settled in USA due to migration. Some notable Elders and Deaconesses who provided great support for the assembly were Elder Antwi Boasiako, (moved to Ghana), Elder Emmanuel Owusu (now the Presiding Elder) and Elder Abraham Boris (moved to New York), Deaconess Regina Offei (moved to Virginia), and Deaconess Mercy Quaisie (now Assistant Regional Evangelism Leader).

Norcross assembly has been described as the stalwart of The Church of Pentecost in Atlanta District. After two (2) years of service by Elder Dr. Edward Cudjoe, who led the assembly in search of its own premises, he handed over the leadership to Elder Emmanuel Akpanagan who served for four (4) years. The assembly purchased and dedicated its own building in June 2008. Elder Akpanagan handed over to Elder Stephen Kumi who served for two (2) years. On 20th September 2015, Elder Kumi handed over to Elder Emmanuel Owusu who served for 4 years. During this period, Norcross was carved from Atlanta to be a District and thus the Assembly became the Norcross District seat. On February 2nd, Elder Emmanuel Owusu handed over to Elder Emmanuel Okudjeto, who is the current Presiding Elder.

The offsprings of the assembly are Stone Mountain assembly, Athens assembly and PIWC Norcross.
