History of The Church of Pentecost, Atlanta

Prophetically, the Lord God confirmed His word “I will build my Church” by planting another church in this city about three (3) decades ago. The Lord in His infinite wisdom always fulfils and establishes His plans and purposes through His people. He revealed this to the Saints in the assembly in New York City which is the mother of all the churches in U.S.A. After prayerfully considering the revelation, coupled with the great evangelistic drive the Lord had then planted in the hearts of the saints in New York City, the late Aps. Emmanuel Owusu Bediako (then Ovr. Emmanuel Owusu Bediako), Elder Emmanuel Brown (then Youth and Evangelical Movement leader) were moved by the Holy Spirit to visit Atlanta for the beginning of the church. Before then, the late Rev. Samuel Akuffo (then Elder Samuel Akuffo), Elder Reynolds Nyarko and late Elder Eric Amihere had already consulted and had willingly accepted the burden to help organize, nurture, and lead the church in the city of Atlanta.

The church in Atlanta begun at the garage of the late Rev. Samuel Akuffo at His residence at Stone Mountain with twelve saints, children included as pioneers of the church. Elder Akuffo was selected to be the leader and was ably assisted by Elder Nyarko. Elder Amihere was the secretary and Deaconess Vida Akuffo Boakye (then Sister Vida Akuffo) was the treasurer. Under the leadership of Elder Akuffo and Elder Nyarko coupled with frequent visitation from the leaders of the New York church, the Holy Spirit increased the church rapidly.

By September 1992, the garage of Elder Akuffo could no longer keep up with the rapid increase in the church membership. As a result, the Lord led the leaders to rent a permanent place at 2227 Godby Road, in College Park. Elder Reynolds Nyarko took over the mantle of leadership and became the church’s first presiding elder in January 1993 and was assisted by Elder Henry Appau and Elder Eric Amihere. They worked together which paved the way for the growth and spiritual upliftment.

The church experienced miraculous events: barren women begun to bear children, the sick were healed during intensive prayers and worship, some members received deliverance and others received financial breakthrough.

The church continued to grow, which consisted of hundred adults and twenty children. The place of worship at Godby Road could no longer accommodate the increase hence the leadership moved the church to the Covenant of Faith Ministry located at 6033 Roosevelt Highway, Union city. The church leadership decided to acquire a permanent place of worship.

The building committee was re-organized which consisted of the following members: Dr. Emmanuel Obeng as the chairman, Brother Adjei Boachie, Elder Dr. Edward Cudjoe (then Brother Edward Cudjoe), Elder Adjei Boakye (then Brother Adjei Boakye) and the entire presbytery. The committee worked tirelessly together, and three major fund-raising services were held towards this course. Members gave freely and willingly, and the church acquired its first permanent place of worship which was later dedicated on May 15, 1996. After the church building dedication, the entire membership of the church stood at twelve presbyters, a hundred and forty adults and thirty-five children.

The congregation grew at a rate that led to insufficient space for parking. The local presbytery and the district pastor Joseph Gyamfi decided to look for another place of worship. Under the leadership of the building committee chairman Elder Adjei Boakye, the current building was found. He presented it to Pastor Joseph Gyamfi and the presbytery, who later purchased it. The building was purchased on October 3rd, 2014, by the National Office during the time of Pastor Joseph Gyamfi. The building is located on 5606 Mableton Parkway, Mableton, GA 30126.

The beginning of the renovation was moving slowly due to the city's regulations and financial issues. The Regional Office under the leadership of Evangelist Stephen Omane Yeboah (now retired), took over the renovation issues after the transfer of Pastor Joseph Gyamfi.

Evangelist Stephen Omane Yeboah (Rtd.) worked vigorously with Pastor Saka Ntiamoah and Elder Adjei Boakye on meeting the code enforcement and other city regulations pertaining to the renovation.

The current Area Head, Pastor Joseph Antwi, also worked hand in hand with the current District Pastor, Pastor Frank Ayisi to finish the renovation and obtained our certificate of occupancy. The church building was dedicated on June 5, 2022, by the National Head, Apostle Michael Agyemang-Amoako.

We give admiration to the following people who have work immensely for the completion of the church building: Elder Isaac Amoh (Presiding Elder), Elder Dr. Sheriff Dodoo, Elder Adjei Boakye, Deaconess Doris Darko, Brother Kwaku Darko, Brother Frank Aboagye, Brother Adjei Boachie, Deacon Emma Kumi-Ansu, Brother Eric Cheremeh and the entire presbytery.

The following are the District Pastors (and their wives) and Presiding Elders who have worked diligently with support from the other elders and entire presbytery to achieve the growth of the church.
